This is his story
“As I gained weight after college and during the pandemic, I joined the 1UP Facebook page in hopes of inspiration. I woke up after my 25th birthday at 213 lbs., the heaviest I have ever been. There were many moments where I started to workout but ended up taking breaks or stopping. I kept looking for motivation or some secret and thought the 8-week challenge would help me discover it. The truth is, there is no secret, it's dedication and discipline when there is no motivation that will define your success. Committing to a diet and exercise plan requires a sense of mental strength that many people don't understand. My biggest obstacle was finding the energy and sticking to a cardio plan. I decided to vary my cardio in the same way I varied my lifts according to 1UPs Plan. I biked, hiked, ran, walked, and even joined a Jiu Jitsu gym. My overall journey has inspired aunts and cousins to begin their own journey, and I have even become somewhat of a mentor. My advice to anyone beginning is to do just that, begin. When you're looking for motivation, look to yourself for discipline. Staying consistent isn't exciting, but the end result will be.”
