This is his story:
"Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent fitness challenge and how it reignited my passion for health and wellness.
For the last several years, I had completely neglected my body. My excuse? Studying, going back to college for my degree, working a full-time job, and taking care of my family. Life was hectic! But at 47, I knew I needed to make a change.
I saw a post about this challenge, and it felt like a sign to get my life and fitness back on track, to take control of my health and start living healthy again. A few years ago, I broke my arm snowboarding, then shortly after, had umbilical hernia surgery. I fell out of the habit of working out, staying fit, and eating clean. This challenge was the perfect push I needed to get back in the game!
Once I started hitting the gym again, it was humbling. I felt weak, out of breath, and sometimes even dizzy. But I kept going. I trusted that by using the 1UP app, I would be held accountable to keep pushing myself. I have to admit, the first two weeks were brutal. 3-4 years of inactivity had taken a toll. But I persevered, and even though I was feeling stronger, I barely saw any results for the first four weeks! It was discouraging, but I kept trusting the process.
Then, around week 4-5, something shifted. My body started responding! The workouts and the clean eating were finally kicking in. I learned that the fruits of your labor often take weeks to manifest. You just have to trust the journey. There were days I really didn’t feel like working out, but I knew if I could just get to the gym, the energy would follow. There were some hard days, but I kept pushing. The saying, "It doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger," became my mantra.
And it's so true! Not only did my body get stronger, but so did my mind, my will, my determination. I found a routine that worked for me and built a habit.
My advice to anyone ready to reclaim their life and health? Just get started. Keep going. Keep your mindset positive. When negative thoughts try to creep in and tell you to quit, push them away and remind yourself that you are in control..
During this journey, I fueled my mind with motivational speakers , sometimes music, but mostly podcasts and talks that inspired me. Remember, you can do anything you set your mind to. Keep going! Keep pushing forward! You will not regret it!”
