In April, I started getting back into the gym, and joining the challenge gave me the extra motivation I needed to begin building a routine again. At the same time, I was still working extremely long hours, including overnight shifts and working during the day. Even though I was exercising, my eating habits were all over the place, especially eating late at night, so I wasn’t seeing the progress I wanted.
When the summer challenge came around, I made the decision to really lock in and become more disciplined. One of the biggest changes I made was cutting out the crazy overnight work schedule, which also helped me stop a lot of the late-night eating. I became much more consistent with both my meals and my workouts.
I also started paying closer attention to how certain foods made me feel. I realized that bread, rice, and fried chicken left me feeling extremely bloated, so I decided to cut back on those foods. Once I combined those changes with a consistent gym routine, I slowly began noticing results. Interestingly, other people noticed the changes before I did, especially in my face and neck. Hearing people point out my progress helped me realize that the work I was putting in was actually paying off.
One of the biggest victories for me has been seeing the improvement in my overall health. My cholesterol, which had been over 160, is now down to 100. That number means a lot to me because it shows that the changes I’ve made are impacting more than just how I look, they’re improving my health as well.
I also started taking Ripped by 1UP. It took some adjusting because it made my stomach feel a little unusual at first, but in my experience, it helped curb my appetite and supported me while I focused on cutting.
I’m still not at my ultimate fitness goal, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I plan to carry this momentum into the next challenge. More than anything, I’m grateful to God that I’m in a much better headspace today. I feel lighter, stronger, more confident, and motivated to keep going.
If there’s one thing I would tell someone who is just beginning their fitness journey, it’s don’t wait until everything in your life is perfect to start. Life can be heavy, schedules can be difficult, and progress may come slowly, but consistency matters. Pay attention to your body, make changes you can maintain, and celebrate the small victories along the way. Sometimes other people will see your progress before you do, but keep showing up.
This journey has become about more than just losing weight for me. It’s about improving my health, rebuilding my confidence, and continuing to move forward, one day at a time, all to the glory of God."
