Female Transformation - Joana De Alba

Congratulations to our 2025 Summer 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Female 1st place $10,000 cash prize winner Joana De Alba

This is her story

"I’m a mom of two and a SAHM. Being a mom, sometimes you forget about yourself or even how to make friends. That’s when I discovered the #1upnutrition community four years ago. People there are kind, and they don’t judge you for how you look or what race you are. Everyone is always motivating and encouraging you to become better. A big plus is making friends and doing the challenge together.

I’ve been doing the challenges for the last four years, and I only completed one in 2023. I always sign up for each challenge to motivate myself and to help me overcome the stress and depression I deal with every day. Going to the gym or working out at home is like therapy, it makes you feel brand new every time you complete a day. When I registered for the Spring 2025 challenge, I thought I could complete it for the second time, but I broke my ankle on Mother’s Day. I couldn’t do simple things and felt useless. That’s when I started stress eating and gained the most weight I ever have. Instead of continuing with my bad habits, I joined the summer challenge to motivate myself again.

I set some goals and decided what I want to accomplish. I looked back at my previous challenges and told myself what I did wrong and what I can do better. I pushed my limits even though I’m not fully healed and can’t do some of the workouts I love. I tried to push my limits even though I’m not fully healed and not able to do some of the workouts I love. I tried to be super strict with my diet, which is the hardest part for me to accomplish. I follow the 1UP app’s daily calories and macros, and it has made a big impact on my journey. There were definitely ups and downs, but I didn’t give up, and I finished.

During the challenge, I felt like giving up especially when you feel like you’re giving everything you have and still don’t see any changes in your body or weight. But when I compared my Week 1 to Week 8, I saw a big difference.

Things I learned are that you don’t need to rush or overwork yourself just to see change, and you shouldn’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Everyone is built differently.

If I could give advice or tips to anyone, it would be: enjoy the journey. It doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you finish. If you feel like giving up, remember that it’s okay to pause, but you have to keep going to achieve your goals. It might take weeks, months, or even years, but never give up.

Sometimes you feel like you don’t see any changes in yourself, but others will notice and show you what you can’t see yet. Thank you so much to the 1UP family for the opportunities and for believing in me. I’m so blessed to be part of the 1UP family."
