to our 2020 Fall 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Male 5th place $2,000 cash prize winner Ray Hylton @rayhyltonjr
This is his story
“First of all, this was a remarkable experience. I love 1Up nutrition, their products, their support, how they differentiate themselves, and their overall mission. I decided to join this challenge because sometimes it can be difficult to motivate yourself if there’s no structure, or better put, a reason to workout and eat right regularly.
I knew this challenge would provide the inspiration I needed to force me to stick to my diet and train like a beast.
Between work and getting up early to train, it was a lot. The large majority of the time I felt a lot of pressure to perform, because you never know whether you’re going to be “on” that day, or whether that little voice inside is going to try and talk you out of doing what you know you’re supposed to do. Not to mention the 8 weeks at first seemed like forever away, but it actually blew by.
I just kept reminding myself that instead of just treating this as an 8-week challenge, this would be more like an 8 YEAR challenge. I thought to myself that regardless of the outcome, this would be a great way to kickstart a brand-new lifestyle, and that if I could just get through it, on the other side would be a stronger person with better habits, routines, and daily rituals. And hey, if I could inspire a few people and make a couple of bucks along the way I’d say that’s a win.
On that note, I am a big believer in keeping things simple. I think too often we feel that there is some magic bullet to getting fit and healthy, when the truth is it's just a few things: Working out when you don’t feel like it, hitting your macros and taking the proper supplements every day, drinking enough water and getting enough sleep, and the FAITH that what you’re doing is working.”
