Congratulations to our 2021 Spring 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Male 5th place $2,000 cash prize winner John Cole @youngunner10

This is his story

I never thought I would do something like the 1UP transformation challenge. I thought I would like to do it, but I don’t really want to put myself out there like that. However, I needed to get into shape and the photos of all the past contestants were so inspirational that I decided to go for it.

My wife really encouraged me and even said she’d do it with me. Initially, we started with going on walks and then amped it up after two weeks. At about week 3 I was rolling, pushing myself and looking forward to each workout. There were days I was tired and sore and didn’t want to hit the gym but I was getting results and didn’t want to back slide. This is the first time I entered a challenge and I told myself I was going to make it all the way through. Whether I won or not I was going to finish it.

I learned some much throughout this journey. I just needed to do something each day. Make the time to go workout by sacrificing something else if I had to. Also, maintaining a healthy diet and staying away from processed foods. Cooking at home instead of going out, not eating anything late and just upping my cardio and not just lifting weights.

This was an awesome experience and I am going to keep it up. With the help of the 1UP nutrition team I was able to keep my energy up and recover well after workouts. The BCAA recovery powder was money and I recommend it, if you’re low on energy and just need a little push to get through some of those hard days.

If you are just starting your journey my biggest tip to you is to just start and stay consistent.  No days off find something to do each day. If you can’t make it to the gym take a brisk walk or go biking, just do something to get your heart rate up. Remember you’re not alone, the Facebook group for 1UP has tons of people on the same journey there to help motivate and cheer you on! My journey is just beginning and I can’t wait to see what I do from here. Thanks 1UP!
