Male Transformation - Carlo Yao

Congratulations to our dear customer and 8 week #1uptransformationchallenge participant Carlo Yao @mimmo.mcyao on a fantastic transformation!

This is his story:

“ It was broke, so I fixed it - that was my reasoning for joining the 1 Up Transformation challenge. When I looked in the mirror, I saw something that wasn’t working. I saw someone who made a lot of goals in the past, but rarely ever followed through; whether it was in the gym, diet, or any other aspect of my life. I wanted to fix that, and this challenge was a great opportunity to start.
.
So, for the next 8 weeks I set a plan, I put aside everything else, and focused on just following through with this challenge. I kept it keto with macros dialed in, I intermittent fasted till noon every day, and I prioritized getting to bed at a decent time to get enough sleep and let my body recover. It sounds simple right? I’m not down-playing how hard it is to lose weight, to lift, or to get results...but rather I'm emphasizing how ‘simple’ it can be if you just trust the plan and actually follow through.

I think the hardest part of my journey was planning around my family. I chose to keep it keto to match my fiancé's diet and make meal planning easier. Then, so as not to take away time from my kids, I committed to early morning cardio and lunch time lifts; which is why I needed to get to bed early to recover and have energy for the next day (needless to say, no more staying up late gaming). Intermittent fasting was key for me as well, so I could eat larger meals in the afternoons with the fam without looking/feeling like I was dieting. It was a bit of a juggle but I was able to figure out how to make it all work.

Overall, the experience was great! Tough, but great. I had to learn to say no to a lot of temptations lol. The online 1up community was also super friendly and awesome. I made a lot of friends who helped to keep me motivated.

Tip for those starting their journey: Follow through! We all get in our own way of success and growth. Just make a plan, follow through, and you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve! We all change when the pain of staying the same is outweighed by the pain of change.”
