Product spotlights: Creatine + Tone & Define 101

Creatine burst onto the supplement scene in the 1990s with the promise of helping bodybuilders and athletes to train harder, perform better, and build more muscle. While the supplement remains a mainstay among those demographics, it is gaining traction with a newer audience -- women.

The still-growing body of research continues to reveal novel benefits of the ingredient as well as new applications where it can be utilized. This cutting-edge research led us to develop a line up creatine supplements to help meet you where you are in your fitness journey and where you’re going!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll dive deep into our line of creatine products and explain the choice ingredients we combined with creatine (the method behind the madness). We’ll even discuss how to take creatine and how you can stack it with one of our other creatine products to make sure you’re getting the absolute best this primetime ingredient has to offer.

Let’s get started with Creatine + Tone & Define!

What is Creatine + Tone & Define

Creatine + Tone & Define is formulated to help you power through your workouts and shape a lean, defined physique. We’ve hand-picked a trio of research-backed ingredients in creatine monohydrate, HMB and CaloriBurn GP® to support strength development, muscle recovery, and fat-burning.

Creatine (5,000mg)

Creatine in a “toning” supplement. Surely, you think we’re confused.

Not in the least.

Creatine isn’t a “bulking” supplement, and it certainly isn’t a steroid.

It’s a natural energizer that helps your cells regenerate ATP -- the cellular currency of energy production. The faster that you’re able to replenish ATP during exercise, the more reps you complete, which helps you build strength and burn more calories!

This is all the more important when trying to lose body fat. Maintaining lean muscle and building strength is what leaves you looking toned and defined at the end of your diet, instead of skinny fat.

Creatine has also been shown to support muscle recovery and hydration -- two factors that enable you to train harder more frequently, which supports quicker fat loss due to more calories burned over the weeks.

Calcium HMB (1,500mg)

Whenever the body is in a calorie deficit (such as when you’re dieting), it will seek to conserve. This means lowering metabolism and shedding things it doesn’t deem essential, such as added lean muscle that you’ve worked really, really hard to build over the years.

Something else to consider is that middle-aged adults lose 3% of their muscle strength and 1% of their muscle mass each year on average. Aging is also linked to anabolic resistance, making older individuals even more susceptible to muscle loss. To top it off, women are at a greater risk of muscle loss than men.

This is why consuming enough protein each day and resistance training 3-4 times per week are critical when dieting for fat loss. These two things send a powerful signal to your body that it needs that lean muscle, and it can turn to body fat for the extra energy it needs.

Be that as it may, it also helps to have a little added help from the right supplements.

HMB (β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate)

HMB (β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate) is a metabolite of Leucine (one of the EAAs/BCAAs) that has been heavily researched for its muscle-protecting benefits.[1] In fact, it has been shown to help improve muscle mass, strength and body function, especially in adults between 50–65.[2]

HMB can also reduce exercise-induced muscle damage, which may help reduce DOMS, support recovery, and allow you to exercise more frequently.[3]

One thing to keep in mind is that HMB is best suited top reserving and protecting lean muscle. If you’re looking to add some lean muscle, then you’ll want to combine HMB with whey protein.  Research demonstrates that a combination of Clear Protein + HMB may result in greater lean mass gains.[4]

CaloriBurn GP (40mg)

Grains of paradise is a relative of ginger. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine for its metabolic benefits. Modern research finds that the age-old botanical can increase energy expenditure and support stimulant-free body recomposition via activation of brown adipose tissue (BAT).[5,6] This makes grains of paradise a truly exceptional ingredient as it can boost calorie burning without ramping up heart rate or blood pressure or disrupting sleep!

Other studies suggest regular supplementation with grains of paradise may help to reduce visceral fat -- greater accumulations of visceral adipocytes are associated a greater risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes.[7]

CaloriBurn GP is a premium-grade extract of grains of paradise standardized for 6-paradol -- the key bioactive agent present in grains of paradise.

How to Take Creatine + Tone & Define

Mix 1 scoop with 10 oz of cold water and consume 30 minutes before workout. On non-training days, take 1 scoop in the morning to maintain muscle creatine levels and support muscle recovery and fat loss.

Stacking Options

Creatine + Tone & Define supplies a full 5g of creatine per day along with research-backed amounts of CaloriBurn GP and HMB.

It can be alone and it can be stacked with our other creatine products for additional benefits, depending on your goals. In fact, research shows that taking higher amounts of creatine may open the door to new benefits, such as combatting sleep deprivation.[8]

  • For muscle recovery, we suggest having a serving of Creatine + Tone & Define pre workout and a serving of Pure Rebuild post workout.
  • To fuel your mind and body throughout the day, we suggest having a serving of Creatine + Energy & Focus in the morning and a serving of Creating + Tone & Define after lunch.
  • To help replenish and rehydrate after your cardio workouts, we suggest having a serving of Creatine + Tone & Define followed by a serving of Creatine + Hydration, which supplies essential electrolytes your mind and muscles need to perform at their best each day.
