Congratulations to our 2023 New Year 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Male 4th place $3,000 cash prize winner Davonte Johnson @d_art_of_lyfe
This is his story
“First and foremost, I want to give all honor and glory to GOD because I was able to make it through this challenge with no injuries and reach the goals that I set for this part of my journey. I have been participating in the 1UP challenge since 2020 and it has been a long journey and I still have a ways to go. I joined the 1up family after countless failed attempts to lose weight independently with no guidance, tips, or daily motivation. I was inching close to 300 lbs before the start of my very first challenge when I decided that I wanted to take a different route. Through every challenge that I was able to complete, I would always lose weight but gain it right back after the challenge was over. Juggling school and work and family was a hassle while still trying to get to the gym 4 to 5 times a week. Honestly, I did not think that I would be able to balance everything and I often made excuses for the gym but seeing the post of countless updates and motivational moments that other contestants posting about long weeks and how exhausted they are really gave me the motivation to keep going. Knowing that I was not the only one exhausted and sore gave me the drive to stop making excuses for myself. There were many moments when I felt like quitting. Keeping a normal schedule while in a calorie deficit is beyond physical. Having to show restraint from sweets and snacks was the most challenging part of the competition for me because I love cakes, cookies, and anything sugary. Over the past challenges I was able to collect a few tips to curve and reduce my sugar intake and I was able to execute those tips to the fullest this past challenge. Having a strong support system and a great fitness circle gave me the drive to do my best this past challenge, without the motivational post or different recipes, or even different stacks I do not think I would have made it this far and for that, thank you 1UP Family!“
