Male transformation - Christian Restrepo

Congratulations to our 2020 Fall 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Male 3rd place $4,000 cash prize winner Christian Restrepo @cravemuscles

This is his story

“ At the start of 2020, I promised my wife that we would both go from fat to fit after she was cleared to train from the birth of our 2nd child in August. The 1up transformation challenge was literally perfect timing for us. We focused on walking every day and strength training. We would walk anywhere from 3-6 miles a day, my wife carrying our little one in a front carrier and I would carry our 2-year-old in a Minimeis shoulder carrier. This way, we were able to make the challenge a family adventure to different parks around our city and even got froggy and conquered a 3-week hiking trip during the competition. It was hard making time to go to the gym, leaving my wife to tag-team the 2 kids didn’t seem fair, so I focused on quick workouts so I could be in and out of the gym asap. Sometimes that was in the middle of the day, other days it was after 9pm, and some days I just couldn’t gym, but that's just part of life, adjusting to challenges presented and overcoming them to achieve a goal. I learned that body transformations are more about nutrition and willpower and less about crushing it at the gym every day as I was only able to do maybe 25ish strength training sessions during the competition. I stuck to my caloric deficit like a boss, so that was a win every day. Overall, I loved participating in the challenge, it brought my wife and me closer together, working on a common goal. I am no stranger to losing weight. At one point in my life, I was over 300lbs and my one piece of advice to anyone starting their fitness journey is to WALK. It was amazing to see how much fat I was losing just by walking 10k-15k steps a day. Start by adding a short 10 min walk after every meal and as the habit starts sticking, you can start to stretch those 10 mins into 20, 30 mins etc.”
