This is his story

 

“A couple of years ago I had gotten passed over 200 pounds which was not good for me at 5'8. A good friend of mine told me about 1up and the challenge they had available online. I looked into it, and saw that it was free, so l thought why not? I have participated in several challenges now in the past two years. Some I did ok and some I quit before the eight weeks were done. However, I would say that I got stronger and developed healthier habits along the way. This fall l took everything I learned from previous challenges and the 1up fb group and things came together for me.

 

Three words that I think are key for anyone starting a fitness journey would be consistency, patience, and perseverance. There will be numerous obstacles to overcome and the easy route for many (myself often) is to give up and use those mishaps, whatever they are, as an excuse. This challenge I had covid and a flare up of gout but instead of giving up this time I used those down days I had as motivation to double down once my health was back. As Rocky Balboa once famously said, "lt's not about how hard you hit. lt's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward."
