This is her story

 

“My friend Marci and I try to encourage each other when we decide to focus on our health and diet. She told me about the 1Up Transformation Challenge, my first thoughts were that it would be really neat but also fear that I would get stressed out and fail to stick to my plan. I decided to give it a go and I am truly surprised and grateful of how encouraging it was to join the challenge. Seeing the encouraging comments and love of the other people who joined the challenge on Facebook was helpful. I also knew I committed myself to a goal for 8 weeks, I found that very motivating and also made me feel like I was a part of something, and not just on my own.

 

Sticking to a workout and nutrition plan is not easy, temptations to just sleep in, take the day off, and indulge in food were strong. In the end I did not just strengthen myself physically, but it strengthened me mentally; my will power, my discipline, and my ability to do hard things. This helps in all areas of my life. I learned the value of setting small achievable goals to accomplish big goals. That was huge for me, I knew that if I would stick to what I needed to for just the day I was in, the results would come. Every morning I sat for a few minutes and reviewed my goals, told myself I AM going to make it, I WILL accomplish my goals, that kept me motivated, this was probably the most important thing I did to keep going!

 

We have one life to live and at the end of mine I do not want to look back on with regret that I never got healthy and strong, that I always wanted to but never did. The reward of the sacrifice and work is worth it. Our bodies are amazing and can do amazing things, that was one of my favorite parts of this experience, was in the end being able to lift weights and do workouts easily that in the beginning I really struggled with. I look forward to continuing my journey in this community and reaching greater goals!”
