Congratulations to our 2021 New Years 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Female 4th place $3,000 cash prize winner Tyree Hand @tygirl_86
This is her story
“I’ve always been a pretty active individual growing up. I played soccer, volleyball and loved wakeboarding. It wasn’t until my 20’s that I began to have a relationship with the gym and found a new passion for bodybuilding.
However back in 2009 I was in a car accident. The impact left my lower back injured and weak. Over the years it always bothered me, but I continued to go about my ways. After months of pain did an MRI and then learned I had two ruptured discs my L4 & L5. I had surgery finally 2 weeks later.
It’s been a year this April since my back surgery. But before this challenge I spent 9 months being very inactive due to the pain I was in. With very little walking and just eating anything I wanted due to my depression, I gained a ton of weight putting me at my all time high at about 190lbs.
One day I came across the 1UP Transformation Challenge and decided this was the push I needed. I have always been competitive and thought this would be just the thing I needed to conquer my fear!
I started the challenge at 171lbs and just took things one day at a time. Some days were easy and others were a struggle but I set daily goals for myself that I had to achieve no matter what or how I felt that day. I began lifting weights again and kept my nutrition on point. I was determined to make a change for myself and told myself no excuses!
Thanks to this challenge I not only got back in shape and eat according to my goals now, but I was able to conquer my fear and found myself again. I am beaming with joy, and found happiness in the littlest things in life like hiking, being back in the gym, and selfcare.
My advice is to set daily goals and just take it one day at a time. As for my competitive side advice, when you feel like stopping or cheating on your nutrition, just remember the person who takes 1st is doing one more step, one more rep and not giving into temptation. Stay focused and defy your limits!
