Fitness and Sexual Performance

Fitness has a multitude of benefits. On the other hand, being unhealthy has a multitude of issues that can possibly come about as well. A common denominator in both being fit and active and even unhealthy is the effects, good or bad, on sexual performance.

When it comes to exercising, the body basically needs it. When you exercise, your brain produces endorphins that release sex hormones. These hormones play a role in numerous things such as reducing heart rate, lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels (which relaxes the body), and also improve digestion.

Another benefit from fitness/exercise is the heightening of beta-endorphins which will cause your heart rate to actually go up and direct blood flow to all the right places. Studies show by doing these things with your spouse/partner will actually cause your desire to double sexually. Strength training has shown benefits as well when it comes to sexual health and performance, especially in men. Low libido (sex drive) in men comes from a lack of testosterone. Strength training increases the levels of growth hormone, which is a main factor in the spiking of testosterone (which is the hormone for arousal). By implementing a strength training program at least 3 times a week into your routine, along with proper sleep, will surely help improve sexual drive and arousal.

When it is broken down between men and women, fitness increases sexual performance for both, just in different ways. Men who engage in fitness and strength training have shown in increase in performance and better orgasms. Women were shown to be more sensitive to the touch and increasing desire to stimuli.

Adversely, studies show of course that people who are unhealthy with higher body fat percentages, high blood pressure, and bad cholesterol levels do not have a high libido or sex drive. Also, when it comes to performance, primarily in men, ability levels are hindered and suffer. Men are even shown to have issues with erections when they suffer from high blood pressure and bad cholesterol.

So, when it comes to fitness and sex, there is an obvious correlation. Fitness has numerous benefits inside and outside of the bedroom that cannot be denied and should not be ignored.

The act itself is considered fitness, burning up to 100 calories in a 30-minute time frame. So do yourself and your partner a favor and get fit!
