Congratulations to our 2024 Summer 8 Week #1uptransformationchallenge Female 3rd place $4,000 cash prize winner Alyssa Gutierrez @eeel.ishaa
This is her story:
“I’ve struggled with my weight throughout my adult life. Every time I lost weight, I ended up gaining it back—and then some. I heard about the 1UP Transformation Challenge from my husband, who lost over 70 pounds in the past year, and decided to prioritize my health too. His unwavering support during the 8-week challenge was a huge factor in my success.
In the beginning, I felt defeated. I didn’t realize how uncomfortable I was in my body until I started moving. Walking for just 10 minutes left me out of breath, and I wanted to quit multiple times during that first week. But I pushed through. Staying consistent the first two weeks laid a strong foundation, and as the challenge progressed, I grew stronger and began to look forward to my daily walks as fueling my body became easier.
My biggest challenge was sticking with my routine when life got busy and challenging. Around week 5, our family received some heartbreaking news. Normally, I would have used this as an excuse to give up and turn to junk food for comfort. Instead, I chose to show up for myself. I did whatever I could, whenever I could, while staying on track with my meals.
I repeated affirmations like “this is a marathon,” “this is a lifestyle change,” and “I can do hard things” every day. These reminders helped keep me focused, even on rough days when I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t achieve every goal, but I never gave up. I realized how crucial a support system is; having someone to encourage me made all the difference. Setting achievable goals kept me motivated, even when things felt overwhelming.
Completing the challenge was super rewarding, and I’m proud of my progress. Making my health a priority was my number one goal. For anyone just starting out, remember to be kind to yourself—perfection isn’t necessary; just showing up matters. Most importantly, keep going. You are worth it.”
